| "On
the 18th century in Ubrique,
'petacas' are made and sewed".
This craft was born due to the town being a strategic
point as well as a must way of the Roman Via Carteia,
contraband route between Gibraltar and the rest
of the Spanish geography. This gave place to the
original leather craft (tobacco-pouches 'petacas';
necessaries 'precisos'; and bags for goods 'bolsas
de avios'), for man who were the ones who worked
the land and did contraband. From there the first
'petaquerías' were born.
